Mission : El Dorado Excellence is an educational foundation established under the auspices of the El Dorado County Community Foundation. Its purpose is to provide a vehicle for tax advantaged contributions that will benefit El Dorado High School. Donors may ask that their contributions be available for immediate use or be placed in legacy accounts that provide growth for use over time. Donors may target their contributions to enhance athletic, academic, or fine arts programs. We will acknowledge contributions in future publications.

Outreach : Our immediate goal is to acquire the name, address, phone number, email address and year of graduation of every person who has graduated from El Dorado High School. We plan to Keep in Touch. We will send periodic updates of current successes at El Dorado High, write feature articles on our outstanding graduates, and post pictures of class reunions. We hope to have a special column called “Milestones” that record significant events in the life of each graduate. El Dorado High School wishes to maintain a close relationship with all its alumni.

Projects : We are nearing the successful completion of our very first project – the Carl Borelli Communiy Ampitheater at El Dorado High. The school was able to secure funding from the state for the building of adjoining classrooms and the basic construction of the site, but donations to El Dorado Excellence allowed us to create a project far nicer than what could have been accomplished with state dollars alone. Because of the significant response from alumni and friends, the facility will become a community as well as a school resource. We expect the first events will be scheduled through Parks and Recreation this very summer!

Future Projects : Continuing with the theme of multiple use, El Dorado High School hopes to join with other agencies to revamp the entire athletic complex at Bennett Park. Currently, we are studying optimum utilization of space and will be applying for grants. Contributions from El Dorado Excellence will be layered among funding from many sources to produce an outstanding resource for El Dorado High students and the community.

Ongoing Endeavors : Academic Excellence is always a goal at El Dorado High School. One of the “above and beyond” opportunities that we would like to offer students is a broader range of Advanced Placement courses. Advanced Placement students who pass qualifying exams can earn up to two years of college credit at most universities, representing a financial saving of up to $40,000.00. Instead of endowing an individual scholarship, why not direct your contribution toward El Dorado Excellence: Academic Fund? You may receive a tax deduction for your contribution and the students will remain eligible for maximum financial aid for college. Instead of helping only one student, your contribution, when layered over the monies received from the State of California, could be used to educate an entire classroom of students! Donors names and individuals honored by contributions will be posted in Advanced Placement classrooms and acknowledged in future correspondence.
